Shop Manager/Mechanic

The Shop Manager/Mechanic will be responsible for the oversight of daily shop operations and ensuring the efficient and timely completion of repairs and maintenance. In addition to general mechanic duties, this role will also involve fabricating, welding, and working on large equipment engines.

Essential Functions

  • Perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on a variety of vehicles and equipment, including but not limited to equipment, trucks, and heavy machinery.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and develop effective solutions. 
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify potential problems and prevent breakdowns. 
  • Utilize welding equipment and techniques to fabricate and repair metal components. 
  • Interpret blueprints, sketches, and specifications to determine project requirements. 
  • Ensure proper welding procedures and safety practices are followed at all times. 
  • Diagnose and repair engine issues in large equipment. 
  • Conduct engine overhauls, rebuilds, and replacements as necessary. 
  • Perform regular maintenance tasks to optimize engine performance and longevity. 
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels of parts, tools, and supplies. 
  • Order necessary materials to ensure adequate stock levels for efficient operations. 
  • Keep accurate records of inventory transactions and expenditures. 
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies. 
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and implement corrective actions as needed. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications preferred. 
  • Proven experience as a mechanic, with experience in fabrication, welding, and large equipment engine work. 
  • Welding certification and knowledge of fabrication techniques. 
  • Available to travel to job sites, business meetings, and industry events. 
  • Valid driver’s license.

Working Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to indoor and outdoor conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The employee must be able to sit at a desk for long periods of time. Based on the project, work could be on job sites in an office trailer or in an existing structure, which may include being mobile onsite. Due to daily condition changes on construction projects, when employees are outside of the office trailer or structure, they must wear appropriate personal protective equipment as required by the Company’s safety policies for weather conditions.
