The Challenge
The Ralston High School athletic complex was phased with multiple completion milestones, each aligned with the school’s activity schedule, adding pressure to meet tight timelines.
In addition to managing a broad and complex scope, the project faced industry-wide material shortages and labor uncertainties. The site presented challenging soil conditions, including subsurface issues with the track and field area that posed a risk of long-term settlement. Meanwhile, the initial design for the baseball and softball fields included costly subgrade work, adding to the project’s financial and logistical complexity.

Key Facts
Nemaha met all project milestones on schedule, aligning with the school’s activity calendar despite material and labor shortages.
The team identified significant savings by revising the subgrade preparation strategy for the baseball and softball fields.
Nemaha self-performed critical work, including earthwork, laser grading, subgrade preparation, and drainage system installation, ensuring quality and control throughout the project.
Challenge Met
In 2020, during COVID-19, Ralston Public Schools partnered with Nemaha to fully renovate its stadium field and running track, overcoming supply chain volatility and subsurface challenges through collaborative problem-solving that returned value to the district. On the strength of that performance, Ralston selected Nemaha again in 2022 to transform its baseball and softball facilities – building a synthetic turf field with dugouts, fencing, lighting, and site amenities. Across both projects, Nemaha delivered schedule discipline, budget stewardship, and durable athletic facilities that will serve the district long into the future.
